In 1996, when Marco Bührer
lived on the countryside of Paraná, more precisely in Irati, and
the band was
only a power trio, with Marco on the bass and vocals, Arthur
Pöttker on the
electric guitar and Eduardo Teixeira on the drums, you can say that
this was
the embryo of Beltane. Soon, in 1997, the lead singer Marco moved to
Ponta
Grossa/PR, moving the band along to the city.
It
didn’t take long and Marco was in all the
city’s metal concerts and knew everyone from the scene. In one of these
concerts
Marco met the guitarist Ricardo Marques, which was playing with his
band,
Illusion, at the time, of which Marcelo Ferrasa and Koshiro Kato were
also
members. They played mostly covers from Hard Rock, Heavy and
Progressive Metal.
When Illusion ended, Marco, without thinking twice, asked Ricardo to
join him
on Beltane. He accepted promptly and brought the drummer Marcelo
together. In the end of 1998, the lead singer Marco also carried the part of bass player and thought thoroughly on dedicating himself only to the vocals. The ex-bas player from Illusion, Koshiro Kato, was the most obvious choice, seen as he already played with Marcelo and Ricardo. With this formation, the band recorded their first demo/ep “The ritual has begun…” in 2000, which granted them lots of fans and recognition in the national underground scene.
In 2002, after several
changes in the band’s formation, Deni Ribas and Claiton Langner joined
Beltane,
bringing new compositions and a new blood to the band. With this new
formation
the band begins the recording sessions of their album, but without Deni
which
left momentarily the band for several reasons. So, Ricardo decides to
take on
all the electric guitars for the album’s recording. Unfortunately, for
personal
reasons, Ricardo Marques decides to leave the band just at the end of
the
recording sessions at late 2004. An old friend of Marcelo and Marco,
the
guitarist A. Anhaia of the band Shadow Mask, was invited to substitute
Ricardo
and finish the recording sessions in studio. Recently, the album “The wheel of Sabbaths” was released in March 2006, and with the return of Deni Ribas the band is currently working on the promotion of the new album, preparing several events in and outside from the state of Paraná. |
